Handheld HDV1080i production: in the professional studio; in the field.
HDV1080i
The XL G1 records panoramic HDV1080i to MiniDV cassettes via a 1/3" 1.67MP 3CCD sensor array. By using rectangular pixels for image capture, video footage can be displayed in the full resolution of widescreen monitors. Both 50i and 25F shooting modes are available.
20x optical zoom lens
A 32.5-650mm (35mm range) Canon L-series lens uses Fluorite lens elements and Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) glass to achieve exceptional image clarity. The Super Range Optical Image Stabilizer effectively compensates for unwanted vibrations across the frequency range.
Instant AF and Focus Assist
Canon Instant AF provides accurate auto focusing at ultra-fast speeds, helping to ensure that High Definition footage remains crisp and sharp. Focus Assist is available to aid manual focusing.
DIGIC DV II
DIGIC DV II is optimised for the increased data stream of HDV. Incorporating advanced noise reduction technology, images have excellent colour with wide tonal range. Split path processing means that still image signals are handled independently, according to their unique colour requirements.
Industry standard connectivity
The XL G1 integrates seamlessly into a professional studio: with Gen lock input and Time Code input/output it can be involved in multi-camera shoots; with an industry-standard SDI output connection, uncompressed HD and SD video can be sent to external recorders. Two independently controlled XLR audio inputs allow external microphones to be attached.
Compact handheld shooting
Designed for handheld shooting, the XL G1’s controls are intelligently positioned for ease-of-use. An internal battery system allows recording to continue even in cold environments.
Separate ring controllers
Separate rings on the lens body provide full manual control over focus, zoom and the iris. The rings are positioned for comfortable three-fingered operation.
Widescreen LCD
Footage is displayed in full 16:9 aspect ratio on both the rotating 2.8" widescreen LCD, that folds out from the top of the camcorder’s body, and on the widescreen 0.57" EVF.
Complete image control
A full range of image adjustment controls includes finely graded gain and matrix settings and a colour correction function.
Cine gamma
Along with 25F shooting, dedicated Cine gamma settings for digital filmmakers give the look and feel of film. Custom presets and custom keys remember personalised settings.
